Papa John’s “Shaq-a-Roni Challenge” Playable Mobile Rich Media Ad

InMobi was selected as Papa John’s mobile advertising partner for the launch of their new Shaq-a-Roni pizza. In the initial RFP, Papa John’s stated that their primary objective was to engage with mobile gamers and expressed interest in a gamified rich media experience. With gamification being one of my specialties at InMobi, I endeavored to create a compelling mini-game that would resonate with gamers and pizza lovers. I conceived this experience in which users take on the role of Shaq assembling the perfect Shaq-a-Roni pizza by “shooting” pepperonis onto an unbaked cheese pizza.

This screen highlights how I typically prepare an interactive design for handoff to a developer or development team. I always assume that my files will be shared with someone who I haven’t talked to, and therefore organize everything very meticulously, with art boards, color-coded folders, and notes on everything clearly visible. I also have a handoff call with the developer in which I walk them through everything, followed by an email summary that bullet points all important information.
