Wet Hot American Summer Rich MEDIA AD EXPERIENCE

Role: Creative Developer

As a huge fan of the original “Wet Hot American Summer” movie, this was a dream project for me. When this RFP came through I was ecstatic that there a was PREQUEL SERIES coming out from Netflix, and that I had the opportunity to brainstorm a mobile ad experience based on it—one of the great benefits of having helped win a partnership with Netflix that year.

In a wonderful bit of synchronicity, the idea I had for the RFP (an interactive tug of war with the cast) aligned perfectly with an amazing piece of key art the Netflix team was developing. This key art became the focal piece of the experience, in which the user tilts their device (tablet or phone) to move the tug-of-war participants to the left or right, revealiong the entire ensemble cast in the process.

Amazing Art From the Netflix Team

I just love this artwork, although I don’t know who the creator was. It reads like a modern Norman Rockwell painting, with wackiness of Mad Magazine. It captures the vibe of the show incredibly.
