RANDOM HOUSE DUNGEONS & DRAGONS E-BOOKS Rich Media AD UNIT

Role: Interactive Designer, Developer

This project was exciting for me personally as it allowed me to work on the brand for one of my favorite hobbies of 30 years, Dungeons and Dragons. When Random House sent us the RFP (request for proposal) for this campaign, I pulled out all the stops developing concepts for this. I created a panoramic scene of the Forgotten Realms Underdark setting, which moved as the user swiped between the ebooks. Each title emerged from an animated fireball, along with a button enabling the user to download a preview PDF to their device. A “purchase” CTA presents options for purchasing the e-books from a number of vendors.

The Background

For the panoramic background image, I wanted to depict a scene in the Forgotten Realms’ iconic Underdark setting, a locale intimately familiar to Dungeons & Dragons players since the game’s inception. To create this, I composited a number of stock photos and added atmospheric lighting and colors, steaming lava, glowing crystals , and strategically placed skulls.

Wireframe Excerpts

The following pages are extracted from the wireframe documents I shared with the client during approvals. In these documents I highlight the overall user experience, outline functional specifications, and present all screens and design elements clearly for client review.
