Twitch Channel Art for /PUHDADO

Shortly after discovering Twitch in October of 2014, I found Puhdado. I had become fascinated by a PC game called DayZ, an open world multiplayer survival game with absolutely no stated objectives, other than survive. A crazy community had built up around it, largely facilitated by the Twitch platform. Twitch streamers had entire channels dedicated to it, with in-game role playing persona’s similar to Dr. Disrespect. Fascinated by the many different styles and approaches to this game, I explored many streamers, eventually discovered my favorite of them all, Puhdado. Dado had a uniquely friendly style of play, natural charisma, and a righteous beard - which took on an identity of its own in his community. Besides being a skilled and positive player, he actively engaged with the chat. Having worked remotely for years, I found comfort in having the stream on in the morning or at lunch - having other humans to chat with throughout the day helped with the occasional feelings of loneliness of working by myself. It wasn’t long before I was a moderator with lots of friends on the Puhdado Farm.

I also found Twitch to be an excellent new creative outlet, and was inspired to create artwork for many of my favorite streamers, which I often did on my own channel (before there was even a “creative” category on Twitch). I enjoyed the production aspect of a Twitch channel—stream overlays, channel graphics, AV setup—but never really enjoyed being “on the spot” as it kind of interfered with most of my creative process.

These are graphics I created for Puhdado’s channel, with most of them being adapted for print-on-demand merch such as t-shirts, stickers, and mugs.

At the time I discovered Puhdado’s channel, he played almost daily with another streamer /KDWolf77, also known for his beard, despite it being significantly shorter than Dado’s. I rendered it in my typical illustration style as above, but provided each streamer with a solo version which they used on their respective channels.

PUBG Graffiti Art

During the open beta for this now-legendary game, there was a battle royale tournament featuring dozens of top Twitch streamers. Each streamer had a custom graffiti design that appeared randomly throughout the map. I don’t remember the results, but I do remember seeing my art throughout the Battlegrounds servers for days, which was a thrill that never got old!
